| The concept of my project revolves around the idea of a revolution set in the not too distant future. For this, I have created CONOPOEUM CORP. Toward the latter part of the 21st Century, Britain is left in turmoil after decades of civil unrest, overseas wars and terrorist and extremist threats. From Coalition Governments came a single 'unified' political prescence, and from the privatisation of the country's healthcare, educational system and security forces the stage was set for big business to seize power over the running of the nation. From this came CONOPOEUM (meaning; canopy- to provide shelter but also cast shade). The Corporation's power is absolute. Curfews are in place ('to protect the security interests of citizens'). Communications are monitored ('to protect against possible security threats'). Even internet browsing is limited (beginning in 2013 with Cameron's restrictions on internet content; ultimately leading to restrictions upon open discussion forums and political debate). Life in this Neo-Britain is tough for anyone with a free and unique thought in their head... |
